Day 1: Kigali Arrival & Transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon your arrival in Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and bustling capital, you’ll be welcomed and driven east to Akagera National Park—a landscape where savannah meets swamp, and where Africa’s Big Five await. After settling in, enjoy a relaxing evening boat ride on Lake Ihema, where hippos wallow and birds soar as the sun sets over the horizon. Dinner and overnight at your preferred lodge inside or near the park.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Akagera National Park

Set out on a full-day game drive through the diverse terrains of Akagera, from open plains and rolling hills to papyrus swamps and lakes. With the help of your expert guide, seek out lions on the hunt, herds of elephant and buffalo, elegant giraffes, elusive leopards, zebras and a variety of antelope. Birdwatchers will be thrilled with over 500 recorded species. Break for a scenic picnic lunch before continuing your exploration. Return to your lodge for dinner under the stars.

Day 3: Return to Kigali & Cultural City Tour

After breakfast, begin your scenic drive back to Kigali, passing through rural villages and lush countryside. In the afternoon, explore Kigali’s top cultural sites: the Genocide Memorial Museum offers a moving tribute to the resilience of the Rwandan people; Inema Arts Center showcases contemporary Rwandan creativity; and local markets offer handmade crafts and colorful fabrics. Return to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Today, embark on a picturesque journey north to Volcanoes National Park, a high-altitude rainforest renowned for its biodiversity and majestic mountain gorillas. Along the way, take in views of terraced hills and mist-capped peaks. Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, where former poachers turned conservationists share traditional dances, storytelling and the legacy of gorilla protection. Dinner and overnight near the park.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Adventure & Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, proceed to Volcanoes National Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. Accompanied by a professional ranger, trek through dense jungle terrain, following signs of one of the habituated gorilla families. Spend a life-changing hour in their presence, observing their social dynamics, playfulness and sheer grace. Later, return to your lodge for freshening up before driving back to Kigali for your final overnight stay.

Day 6: Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home, bringing with you unforgettable memories of Rwanda’s wild heart and warm soul.
