Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Welcome to Tanzania

Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Sg Resort, Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly received by the Gosheni Safaris team and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After check-in, enjoy a briefing from your mountain guide covering the climb, route, gear check and last-minute preparations. Rest and enjoy your first night on Tanzanian soil.

Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Hut (10,000 ft) – Into the Rainforest

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Budget Camping
After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration and to meet your full trek crew. The adventure begins with a 6-hour trek through lush rainforest and giant heathers. Expect to encounter moss-covered trees, colobus monkeys and chirping forest birds as you ascend to your first campsite—Machame Hut.

Day 3: Machame to Shira Camp (12,480 ft) – Climbing into the Clouds

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Budget Camping
Today is a shorter but steeper trek across moorland. The trail opens up with little vegetation, offering incredible views of the Shira Plateau and your first glimpse of towering Kilimanjaro. Take your time as the altitude increases. Expect to see unique alpine flora such as senecio trees and lobelias.

Day 4: Shira to Barranco Camp (13,000 ft) – Acclimatization via Lava Tower

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Budget Camping
Ascend steadily through alpine desert to Lava Tower at 14,850 ft, where you’ll stop for lunch and optional scramble to the top. Descend to Barranco Camp through scenic but rocky paths. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy is excellent for acclimatization. The Barranco Valley below offers a breathtaking sunset view.

Day 5: Barranco to Karanga Camp (13,450 ft) – The Wall and the Valleys

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Start your day with the exhilarating scramble up the Barranco Wall—one of the most exciting sections of the route. Once at the top, enjoy sweeping views before descending into the Karanga Valley, which marks the last water point before the summit. This shorter hike helps your body prepare for summit night.

Day 6: Karanga to Barafu Camp (14,200 ft) – High Camp and Rest

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Budget Camping
Climb through a rugged alpine landscape to reach Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit attempt. The terrain becomes steeper and rockier, with the Decken Glacier looming to the left. Rest, hydrate and mentally prepare—you’ll be waking at 11:00 PM to begin your push to Uhuru Peak.

Day 7: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (19,370 ft) and Down to Mweka Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Budget Camping
Begin the most challenging and rewarding day of your trek just after midnight. The trail to Stella Point is steep and snowy. At Stella Point (18,885 ft), take a short rest before the final hour to Uhuru Peak—Africa’s highest point! Celebrate your success with photos and reflection before beginning your descent back to Barafu and eventually to Mweka Camp for a well-earned sleep.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Back to Civilization

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Can be arranged at an extra cost
After breakfast, descend for 4–5 hours through lush forest to the Mweka Gate. Celebrate your achievement and collect your official Kilimanjaro certificate. You’ll then be transferred back to Arusha through scenic villages and coffee farms. Enjoy a relaxing evening—complete with a hot shower, a hearty meal and a toast to your summit!
